“This, what? This wedding? I waved my hands between us. My face was frozen as I stared at Duncan, my mind blank as I tried to process what he’d just said. “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here tod-” “I can’t do this, Ari.” Duncan’s panicked whisper cut across the priest, who turned to look at me as if I knew what to do. Then, I walked next to the man about to become my husband, ready to say my vows. I gave him a reassuring smile before turning to my dad, who kissed both my cheeks and squeezed my hand. My eyes met Duncan’s, and I noted the nervousness in his gaze. We were finally becoming husband and wife. It had taken ten years to get here, but we’d finally done it. As we approached my future husband, my heart fluttered in my chest. “Ready, sweetheart?” I turned to my dad and nodded, sliding my arm through his as he guided me over the threshold toward the next chapter of my life. I watched them take their places next to the altar, awaiting my entrance. One by one, they walked out ahead of me, making their way down the aisle. “This is it.” “This is it,” Carolina agreed before grabbing Dakota’s hand and tugging her to the door. I turned, glancing at my sisters behind me with a huge smile, then blew out a nervous breath. THE WEDDING MARCH echoed through the church as Carolina, my eldest sister, flounced the skirt of my wedding dress one last time.
